we can modify them using the
chmod command. We pass in an octal permissions string and a file name, and it modifies the file we specify to have the permissions reflected by that string.
chmod 0664 test.txt will give the
owner read and write permissions, the
groupread and write permissions, and everyone read only permissions.
test.txt so it has the following permissions:
owner-- read, write, and execute
group-- read and write
everyone-- no permissions
Remember to add a
0 in front of the octal permissions string.
chmod 0760 test.txt
